Tissue explores the structural overlap between humans and plants. The images are both botanical and anatomical. Celebrating nature not through traditional beauty but the uncanny connections between all living things.
Systems mirror each other across all scales. Growing, branching, circulating, with a fundamental universal blueprint. Look closely and find what you recognize. Our tissue is woven from the same logic.
Images are created by a combination of contact and projection photograms. Most involve treating the leaf as a negative, placing it directly into the enlarger’s negative carrier. Some exposures run upwards of 30 minutes, waiting for the light to push through. The resulting prints are then contact printed, creating a final positive.
