Hello, I am Daniel Torlakson, a portrait and fashion photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. My work often embraces dark atmospheres, strangeness, and the many nuances of human identity. Since childhood, my life has been shaped by artists, punks, and oddballs whose influence guides how I interact with the world.
When I am not shooting, I can be found at the 6th on 7th Photography Workshop, a nonprofit that supports creative expression among military veterans and low-income adults, where I teach classes, help organize shows, and contribute to my local photography community. I have also shown work at a variety of local organizations including Sanchez Art Center, Harvey Milk Photo Center, and Ocean Avenue Association.
