An artist’s world is shaped by their tastes. The clothes on their back, the art covering their walls, the objects crowding their shelves. Creativity does not stay contained to one’s work, it spills over into every facet of their life. Spillage is an environmental portrait series investigating identity through that overflow.
I photograph a wide variety of creatives in their personal spaces, bedrooms, studios, living rooms. Documenting accumulation and layered environments which depict a raw and honest side of their identity. Each portrait conveys a holistic view embracing nuance and resisting cliche. Subjects span everyone from close friends to complete strangers all of whom extended a great trust in allowing me into their private spaces.
Look closely. These environments are dense with information, rich with color, overflowing with texture. Every object is a building block in the identity of its subject. Let curiosity lead you. Dive into their Spillage.
